VSP Culture and Values

VSP’s culture reflects our values. These values set us apart from our competitors and other employers. Here’s what our employees have to say about our values:

We start with trust.

We wouldn't be one of Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work for in America" without trust in one another.
-- Gail A. (Human Resources)

We care.

Whether through our response to disasters, the gifting of sick time to co-workers in need, all the charities VSP supports, or a simple friendly hug from a coworker when you're down, caring is evident to anyone who is fortunate enough to work for VSP.
-- Jeanne B. (Marketing)

We are a team.

We are individuals, united by a common goal of unparalleled service to our clients and members. We achieve this goal by sharing information and ideas, empowering one another, and developing trust among our business partners.
-- Kevin H. (Sales)

We hold high expectations.

At VSP, we expect greatness from ourselves and offer total support to each other.  We all take full ownership for the success of VSP.
-- James L. (eBusiness Web Management)

We create the future.

VSP encourages its employees to be the best and gives us the tools to grow. Whether we want to improve personally or in our career, what we learn here will help create our future and in turn will create a better future for VSP.
-- Melissa E. (Marketing)

We treat others as they wish to be treated.

VSP pledges a passion for people. We express this principle through all our relationships. Whether with our employees, our customers or children needing free vision care, VSP makes a difference. We embrace caring, trust, fair treatment, teamwork, high expectations, community support and a sense of fun to express our vision for a better future. Through our steadfast passion for people, VSP demonstrates a worldview of quality life for all.
-- Christie B. (Customer Service)

We support our community.

When we give our time to help others, we often come away with our own lessons and treasures. Volunteering for school programs is often thought of as one way: we give and students receive. One year, I was challenged by a young man whose life experiences had made him suspicious, attention-grabbing, and street-tough. I learned that this boy had no father figure in his life. On the last day, he asked me not to leave, but to take him home. In that moment, I learned my volunteer experience had changed both him and me.
-- Andy G. (Sales)

We have fun.

Managers dressing up with items from our department "goody box" and singing "Happy Anniversary" to an employee … now that's fun! Another memorable event was going to the VSP "Game Room" and playing ping pong and air hockey with my employees! If I can't find anyone to join me for some fun, I can always go practice my three-pointer on our basketball court!
-- Linda K. (Health Care Services)
