“2 to 9 Employee Program” and Hispanic Offering Increase Access to Eyecare Benefits
Rancho Cordova, Calif., September 2, 2008 – VSP® announced new business capabilities aimed at small businesses and brokers with its new “2 to 9 Employee Program,” a product designed to extend eyecare benefits to employers with two to nine employees, and an expanded Hispanic offering targeting southern California’s Latino population.

The expanded Hispanic offering is currently available to brokers in most southern California counties including Kern, Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura, with plans to launch nationwide in 2009. The offering includes Hispanic-specific research, Spanish language materials and educational pieces central to the Latino community.
“Developing specific materials that address the unique health risks of the Hispanic community enables brokers to better meet the needs of their clients with large Latino employee populations,” said McClelland. “The research is staggering. Hispanics are at a greater risk for glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy. The expansion allows brokers to more effectively communicate with their clients about the health risks facing Latinos and the preventative role vision care can play.”
