Dr. Short is a founding partner of Optometric Associates of South Bend, Indiana, with locations in South Bend, Knox, and Shipshewana, Indiana.

Dr. Short received a master's degree of optometry and doctor of optometry degree from Indiana University. He served as an optometry officer with the United States Navy and was an associate instructor at Indiana University before joining a private optometric practice in 1971. Dr. Short served as president of the Indiana North Central Optometric Society and as a clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners.
